Throughout December Pets At Home stores nationwide supported the Santa Paws Appeal, a fundraising initiative from Support Adoption For Pets.
Each store was partnered with a local animal charity and between them collections were made in the store all month, with proceeds being split between the charity and Support Adoption For Pets who run a grant programme. Here at Cheltenham Animal Shelter we are very lucky to be partnered with 2 local stores, one on Gallagher Retail Park and the other at Golden Valley. Thanks to their hard work and our wonderful volunteers Dorothy, Luke, Helen and Rebecca, we had a record breaking Christmas!
The store at Golden Valley raised a brilliant £1,506.75, nearly double what they achieved last year! The staff really engaged with the fundraising drive and asked every customer if they would like to donate, and the generosity from the public was incredible. There was even a little in-store rivalry to see who could raise the most, and one shopper donated an amazing £50 to help even out the competition! This all helped the smaller local store close the gap on their much larger branch across town.
Meanwhile, the Cheltenham store at Gallagher Retail Park built on previous years with a staggering £1932.25!
This store has always been incredibly successful with their fundraising appeals but even they were shocked at this year’s huge total!
We’re incredibly grateful to these stores not only for their contribution during the Santa Paws and Summer fundraising drives, but also the donation of Lifelines, points earned by VIP cardholders which equate to money for the Shelter to spend in store. Each year we receive over £1,000 in vouchers which helps us purchase last minute emergency provisions such as kitten milk or, when we recently had 10 baby bunnies arrive, lots of new water bottles. Those vouchers really are a lifeline! We also receive a few pallets of food each year from the stores as well, for which we’re especially garteful.
So thank you to Pets At Home and thank you to Support Adoption For Pets, but a super massive THANK YOU to all the customers and supporters who donated money or points and to the amazing volunteers who were present throughout December. We appreciate you all.
