Cheltenham Animal Shelter does not collect stray dogs or accept them directly from members of the public. This page details who you need to contact if you have found a stray dog in Gloucestershire.
Cheltenham Borough Council
Cheltenham Borough Councils stray dog service is provided by Worcestershire Regulatory Services. During office hours (9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday) please call Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) on 01905 822799.
Outside of normal office hours (9am-10pm on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays) please call the duty officer on 07767 352274

Tewkesbury Borough Council
Tewkesbury Borough Council has a responsibility for stray dogs within its borough. They do not have a dog warden and the provision for seizing and holding stray dogs is made through a contractor. The contractor will only collect strays that have been detained and are not running loose.

Gloucester City Council
Gloucester City Council has responsibility for stray dogs within the city of Gloucester. They have their own Dog Wardens and use an external contractor (Worcestershire Regulatory Services) to provide a kennelling and re-homing service if the stray dog cannot be reunited with its owner.

Cotswold District Council
If you find a stray dog in the Cotswold District within normal office hours, you can call 01285 623000.
If you have found the dog outside of office hours you will be asked if you can look after the dog until the next working day. If you cannot hold on to the dog please call the out of hours number on 01625 854581. You will be given instructions about making arrangements for you to take the dog to the kennels.

Forest of Dean Council
If you need to report a lost or stray dog, please contact the Forest of Dean District Council on 01594 810000 during office opening hours (9am to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm on Friday) or email email@example.com.
Any stray dogs found outside of these hours can be taken to the local kennels. The kennels are open from 8am to 11pm, including weekends and bank holidays. Please call the kennel staff on 07505 820220 or 07876 641854 for more details.

Stroud District Council
The Dog Warden service will collect dogs which have already be caught and will look for and catch stray dogs which are reported.
