Meet Poko – our gorgeous Akita queen!
Poko is a truly special girl. With her calm presence and soulful eyes, she carries herself like the gentle giant she is. She has been wonderfully friendly with everyone she’s met here at the shelter, greeting people with quiet sweetness and the kind of warmth that instantly makes you feel chosen.
This lovely lady could live with children aged 10+. She would prefer to be the only dog in the home, and would benefit from gentle socialisation with dogs out and about. Poko hasn’t been cat tested and we don’t have any history of her living with cats. However, for the right home and with sensible introductions, we would be happy to explore the possibility.
Poko has even taken her grooming sessions like a champ, tolerating them calmly and proving what a patient, good-natured girl she is. She isn’t fussed about toys – she’d much rather trade playtime for tasty treats and cozy cuddles. In fact, she’s a bit of a foodie at heart, and nothing wins her over faster than a snack and a good behind-the-ear scratch (her absolute favourite!).
She’s handled being left alone at the shelter fairly well, though we can’t say for certain how she’ll adjust in a home environment. What we can say is that she bonds beautifully with her people and thrives on affection.
