SUMMARY:Rabbit Ranch at Countrytastic
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 2nd April at the Three Counties Showground\, Malvern\nThis family event is specially designed for children under 11 and is packed with hands-on activities\, entertainment and countryside adventures. \nCountrytastic offers a fantastic mix of educational and interactive experiences for the whole family. From the lively Muddy Boots Theatre and imaginative play areas to highlights like the Play Farm Shop\, Parade Ring\, Paw Parade and Animal Antics\, there’s something to spark every young explorer’s curiosity. \nThis year\,  we are delighted to be returning to Countrytastic with our popular Rabbit Ranch and this time we’re making it even more fun for families to enjoy together. \nIn recent years\, the Three Counties Showground team has taken a progressive approach to how animals are included at their events. Instead of displaying animals in ways that can cause unnecessary stress\, they now focus on welfare-led\, educational experiences. That’s why organisations like Cheltenham Animal Shelter have been invited to help visitors learn about animals in a way that puts their wellbeing first. \nRabbits are one of the most misunderstood pets in the UK\, and many owners don’t realise the level of care they need to live happy\, healthy lives. At the Rabbit Ranch\, our activities will focus on the five welfare needs of rabbits: behaviour\, diet\, companionship\, housing and health. \nOur friendly team will guide families through a series of interactive zones\, each designed to make learning about rabbit care fun and memorable. \nCompanionship Zone\nRabbits are highly social animals and thrive when living with a companion. In this area\, children can create their own bunny masks and complete activity sheets that explain why rabbits should live in pairs or bonded groups. \nWe’ll also be bringing along a couple of pairs of our rescued rabbits\, who will be relaxing in a spacious\, enriched pen filled with tunnels\, hides and toys. A perfect example of a happy rabbit environment. \nBehaviour Zone\nGet creative and make a fun enrichment toy for your own rabbit or for one of the rabbits currently in our care at the Shelter. We’ll also share simple ideas for making toys at home and explain how enrichment helps rabbits express their natural behaviours. \nHealth Care Zone\nChildren can take part in a hands-on activity to learn how to check if a rabbit is healthy. Discover the basics of safe handling\, weighing\, vaccinations and why microchipping is so important for pet safety. \nHousing Zone\nSee the difference between a typical pet-shop hutch and the minimum space recommended as the National Guidelines. Visitors can also join a fun activity to see how many hops a rabbit needs to move around comfortably. \nDiet Zone\nLearn which foods rabbits should and shouldn’t eat. Children can colour in different foods and decide whether to “feed” them to a happy rabbit or a sad rabbit depending on whether the food is healthy or unhealthy. \nDon’t miss out — book your tickets today at: www.countrytastic.co.uk \n  \n

SUMMARY:Understanding dog reactivity
DESCRIPTION:Saturday 21st March – 10am to 12:30pm \nCome and join us for a canine behaviour talk at Cheltenham Animal Shelter. \nThis workshop is aimed at those who want to learn more about the motivations behind dog reactivity and ways to work around it. The workshop will mainly be focused on dog-to-dog reactivity with hints and tips on how to manage this behaviour through practical and theory-based teaching brought to you by our behaviour team. \nYou will learn topics such as reactivity body language\, trigger stacking\, the motivations behind your dog reacting to other dogs – and so much more! \nYou will also learn different ways to focus your dog with mentally stimulating games such as find it\, counter conditioning\, and name conditioning. \nThis workshop will run for 2.5 hours (with refreshments provided!) and you will leave with an information pack which will include a special offer on one-to-one consultations with our behaviourists if you would like further help and support for your dog(s). \n“The talk was so relevant\, and I left with a much better understanding of how and why my dog behaves as she does and that I can make some changes to improve how she behaves and focus on making her feel more settled and content (reggae music for dogs has been so useful!!) Thank you!!” \n \n book your place\n \n \n \n \n \n **Please note that unfortunately you are not permitted to bring your own dog(s) to this workshop**
