Lurcher, age 3 years 4 months
Ozzy came to the Shelter in June 2023 because he was too strong for his elderly owner to walk safely.
When he arrived, aged just 18-months, he had not received the training he needed so our team has been working really hard with him to make sure he is the perfect gentleman in his new home.
Our team has taught him how to walk nicely on a lead, how to respond to a clicker, and encouraged him to enjoy scent games like ‘find-it’ to burn off energy. He is very food motivated which makes training sessions and keeping his attention much easier!
Bright and quick to learn, Ozzy has already completed an IMDT training course, charming everyone along the way with his sweet nature. He thrives on mental stimulation and would love to continue developing his skills, especially through puzzle games and fun training sessions with his future family.
With his playful personality and enthusiasm for life, Ozzy is sure to bring joy and laughter to his new home. His greetings may be a bit exuberant at first, but it’s all part of his excitement to be with people. Once he settles in, he becomes incredibly affectionate and loyal, forming strong bonds with those who show him love and patience.
Ozzy loves playing with tennis balls and solving puzzles for a rewarding treat, and one of his favourite pastimes is spending time with his carers with a tasty chew.
He has really come on leaps and bounds since being at the Shelter and, apart from occasionally forgetting his size, we know that he will be a great pet if someone will only give him a chance!
We asked Ozzy’s carers…
Why would Ozzy make a great pet?
Ozzy loves people (sometimes a little too much!) but is always happy to see them. He enjoys running around off-lead and then snacking on a treat before settling down to rest on his bed.
Tell us about Ozzy’s endearing qualities…
- He is incredibly athletic and loves to run around, especially with a ball.
- He expects a treat after his walk and won’t go back in his kennel until he gets one!
- He pounces on his toys while playing – it is really cute!
What do you like most about Ozzy?
He is highly intelligent and loves to learn which gives you a great sense of accomplishment.
