Patterdale cross JRT, age 3 years
Rex arrived at the Shelter in November 2024 after his owner became unwell and was unable to care for him.
Rex is a cheeky little chappy – a bit too much at times but he has made amazing progress with the help of our team. He’s a big fan of walks and will make a super addition to an active family.
While he has been at the Shelter, Rex is learning to walk nicely on a lead and harness, he will be starting reactivity training and is also learning to wear a muzzle. He is a master of puzzle feeders and really enjoys scent games like ‘find-it’ to let off steam.
Rex is the kind of dog who dives headfirst into everything he does – from playtime to cuddle time. He’s super affectionate with his carers and has no concept of personal space (lap dog? Absolutely. Whether you invited him or not). His happy place is right next to you, snuggled up after a day of adventures.
With endless energy and a mischievous glint in his eye, Rex is your typical terrier – smart, playful, and always keeping you on your toes. He’s got a nose like a detective and a serious talent for scentwork, so games that keep his brain busy will go down a treat. And while he’s great company, he’ll need a very secure garden – this lad has cleared a 6ft fence before!
We asked Rex’s carers…
Why would Rex make a great pet?
Rex will make a really loyal pet and he absolutely loves cuddles and fuss – he loves to lean in for a good body scratch.
Tell us about Rex’s endearing qualities…
- He loves sitting on your lap whilst he’s chewing on a bone.
- It is really cute when he gets his nose deep in a snuffle mat or destruction box to find tasty treats.
- He has a real zest for life and loves a long walk – he’s very inquisitive about the world around him and has to sniff everything.
- He is very intelligent and learns quickly.
