Simba is a sensitive, affectionate Labrador who thrives on kindness, reassurance, and calm companionship. He’s a truly gentle soul who takes a little time to feel confident in new situations, but once he knows you, he blossoms into the loveliest cuddle bug – complete with a total disregard for personal space!
Simba would be happiest in a home where any children are aged 14+, and where life is quiet and predictable. He finds busy, urban environments overwhelming, so a peaceful area where he can enjoy relaxed walks at his own pace would suit him perfectly. On days when the world feels a bit too much, Simba would love having access to a secure garden where he can potter, sniff, and unwind.
With his trusted people, Simba is wonderfully settled and content. He’s shown that he relaxes beautifully when he’s with you – even spending time as an office dog here at the shelter, where he simply curled up close by and had a snooze. He enjoys gentle play, especially a game of fetch, and like any true Labrador, he is very food-motivated, which will be a big help with ongoing positive training.
Simba is best suited as the only pet in the home, as he feels anxious around other dogs and would prefer not to have neighbouring dogs either. He’s also not able to live with cats. Being left alone isn’t his favourite thing, but with patience and positive support, this is something that can be gradually built up.
For the right home, Simba will be an incredibly loyal, loving companion who just wants to be close to his people and feel safe.
