PAWS for Wellbeing

Our scheme ‘Paws for Wellbeing’ offers adults, in need of a positive mental health boost, the chance to work on-site alongside the rescue animals in a relaxed and calming setting.

Here at CAS, we understand the importance of taking care of your mental health, as well as the remarkable benefits pets can have on your improving and boosting positive wellbeing.

Our scheme ‘Paws for Wellbeing’ offers adults, in need of a positive mental health boost, the chance to work on-site alongside the rescue animals in a relaxed and calming setting. Interacting with a dog, cat or rabbit can help lessen the production of the stress hormone Cortisol, helping promote good sleep, and may even alleviate some effects of depression and stress.

And let’s not forget the rescue animals will also benefit from the additional interaction and socialising!

The day will be focused and structured to flow in line with the 5 ways to wellbeing and will include an enclosure cleaning activity, animal interactions and a mindful dog walk.

Timings and structure of the session can be discussed on booking and we are an inclusive offering so are happy to discuss the accommodation of individual needs and requirements.

No special equipment or previous experience of animals is required to join as all necessary animal handling safety training will be provided on the day, but attendees must be aware that some activities will be outdoors so weather appropriate clothing will be necessary. It is important to note that some of the activities for the day may be physically demanding.

Our project is hosted in partnership with selected professional bodies and therefore we are not currently accepting external and personal referrals.
