Community outreach
We enjoy going out into our community to share our love of animals with local people and offer advice and support to pet owners.
Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. As well as taking care of and rehoming animals in need, we work in our community to promote responsible pet ownership and help pets stay with their families.
We strive to engage with the local community to promote responsible pet ownership and also help to ensure pets get the care they need from the families who love them.

Our Care Home Visits are a very rewarding opportunity to give residents the chance to meet and interact with animals.
These sessions will include our expert CAS team bringing a rescue animal, or two, to your setting to introduce to your residents, giving them the opportunity to gain the wellbeing benefits that being around animals can provide, as well as a sociable interaction with our friendly and welcoming staff.
These sessions run for a maximum of 30-40 minutes and must be within our 30-minute travel catchment area.

Another big part of our mission is to educate owners and the community about responsible pet ownership and the work of Cheltenham Animal Shelter.
We are happy to provide, and host talks to your community groups or workplace on a variety of subjects on animal welfare, pet care or general Shelter awareness and can even bring along one of our lovely pet residents where we deem suitable.
Our talks can be a formal presentation format or a more informal visit, and we are happy to tailor the content to your requirements.

Raising awareness to the local community is a very high priority of ours as well as supporting pet owners during times of need. It is vital to ensure that we do whatever we can to help owners with their pet before they feel rehoming them is the only option.
Our community outreach work offers those who need a bit of extra support access to free pet food parcels and free advice on a range of topics from pet care and grooming tips, to behavioural or healthcare advice.
Please contact us via the link below if you would like us to attend a group or event you are holding where pet owners may benefit from our support or advice.
We have also introduced our on-site Pet Food Bank where the local community can collect pet food items at no cost to them during difficult times.
Please note, our pet food bank is restocked when our Shelter food reserves allow, but there may be times when the food bank stock is low.
If this is the case and you are worried about feeding your pet, please ask at reception or submit an enquiry via the link below.
