Virtual talks
Virtual dog-training talks to help owners understand and address common behavioural challenges.
Our Behaviour Team is pleased to offer virtual dog-training talks designed to support owners in understanding and addressing common behavioural challenges.
Our talks provide practical, positive-reinforcement training guidance that can easily be applied in the home.
Whether you’re looking to build good foundations or refine existing skills, our team will help you strengthen communication and confidence between you and your dog.
To register for a virtual talk, simply complete the sign-up form. You’ll then have full access to the materials to watch in your own time and as many times as you like!
Settling in your dog
This virtual talk is aimed at those who want to learn more about how to settle and relax new dogs in your home. This talk is aimed at anyone introducing a new dog into their family, whether that be a rescue dog, or a new puppy!
The talk covers challenges you may face and ways to work around them. Topics discussed include separation anxiety, meeting other family members, what to do before your dog arrives and basic house training with hints and tips.
The talk is both practical and theory-based learning. Included in the offering is a presentation hosted by our Behaviourist, and practical demonstrations filmed here at Cheltenham Animal Shelter that you can practice at home.
Once you have signed up you will receive an email with links to give you immediate online access to the ‘Settling in your dog’ 90-minute presentation, a second shorter video with demonstrations of the practical exercises, and a link to our Settling in your dog blog. Please email education@gawa.org.uk if you don’t promptly receive your order confirmation email containing the links.
You will need a good internet connection to watch the videos. The course is free, but we invite donations to help our pets in need.
This workshop is not intended to replace in-person advice or training, and we recommend that you contact a professional should you be experiencing any behavioural challenges with your dog. Please email behaviour@gawa.org.uk to arrange additional support.
Recall **coming soon!**
We will soon be adding a virtual talk about recall – please check back soon!
