Theo

Meet Theo – a big-hearted ex-racing greyhound with a zest for life and a wonderfully goofy personality!

Theo is looking for an understanding, fun-loving home that will continue helping him flourish into the brilliant companion we know he can be. He’s an energetic lad who loves to bounce through life with enthusiasm, whether he’s zooming around, exploring the garden, or simply mooching about doing his own thing while checking in to make sure his people are nearby.

Like many ex-racing greyhounds, Theo is adjusting to life outside of kennels and discovering all the exciting things the world has to offer. He absolutely enjoys human company and loves being around people, though he can sometimes get a little overexcited and silly when emotions run high. This may include becoming a bit mouthy or nippy during exciting moments or fuss, so he’ll need adopters who can continue calmly guiding him and helping him learn how to regulate his excitement. The lovely thing about Theo is that he is eager, engaging, and full of personality – he just needs patient people willing to help him channel that enthusiasm positively.

Theo would suit a home with teenagers aged 16+ who can understand his boundaries and excitement levels. He’ll also need to be the only dog in the home for now while we continue building his confidence and comfort around other dogs. Although many sighthounds thrive living alongside canine companions, every dog is an individual, and Theo is happiest currently focusing on his own progress and enjoying one-to-one support from his humans. We are actively working on helping him feel more relaxed around dogs, and he has already been making positive steps.

Due to his natural prey drive, Theo cannot live with cats or small animals and is currently being muzzle trained to help keep him safe and supported out on walks.

One thing Theo would really love is a secure garden where he can potter, sniff, and stretch his legs at his own pace. He enjoys having the freedom to explore independently while still knowing his people are close by. This would also help him continue settling into home life and toilet training routines.

Theo can find being left alone quite stressful, so he is searching for a home where someone is around for much of the day to help him feel safe and secure while he continues learning that home life is a wonderful place to be.

At heart, Theo is a fun, affectionate, sensitive boy with so much potential. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, he’s going to make an incredibly rewarding companion for the right home.
