What Dexter’s carers say about him
Dexter is a lovable, affectionate boy with a wonderfully gentle and sensitive nature hidden beneath his big, strong appearance. Full of energy and personality, he’s a playful, goofy companion who never fails to make us laugh. Whether he’s rolling onto his back for cuddles, giving you his best puppy eyes or proudly showing off his favourite toy, Dexter has a way of bringing joy to every day.
He absolutely loves being out and about exploring the world through his nose, enjoying long sniffy walks and investigating every interesting scent he can find – especially if there’s sticky weed involved, which has become a particular obsession lately!
Dexter is also a huge fan of soft toys, footballs and tug games, and he’ll happily encourage you to join in the fun. Food and treats are another big motivator for him, making him very responsive to reward-based training.
Despite his energetic side, Dexter is a real softy who thrives on affection and closeness with his people. His carers especially love how silly and cuddly he can be, along with the adorable way he sits between your legs when doing “middle”.
Dexter is a clever boy who has already learned so much during his time at the Shelter. He knows sit, wait, paw, touch, find it, middle and down, and he’s currently working hard on loose lead walking, counter conditioning, roll over and learning to wait calmly when crossing roads. He engages brilliantly with training and has shown fantastic impulse control and willingness to learn.
Dexter will need a patient home ready to continue guiding him, but in return they’ll gain an endlessly loving, entertaining and loyal companion with so much affection to give.

Meet Dexter – a handsome boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This cheeky lad loves being involved in everything and, once he feels comfortable, will reward you with playful antics, happy tail wags, and plenty of affection.
Dexter is still discovering the world and enjoys taking in every new sight and smell on his adventures. Clever and eager to learn, he responds brilliantly to positive, reward-based training and would love a secure garden where he can explore, play, and build his confidence.
He’s looking for a calm female-only home where he can be the only pet and enjoy plenty of company while he settles in. With patience and understanding, Dexter’s fun-loving, loyal nature truly shines through.
For the right person, Dexter will be a devoted and endlessly entertaining companion who brings joy, laughter, and lots of love every single day.
