Barbie is a sweet but sensitive lurcher who spent a long time wandering as a stray before coming into our care. Because of this, she’s still learning what life with humans is all about. At the moment she’s very anxious and doesn’t quite understand affection or touch just yet, but she’s already showing us how brave she is by accepting treats and even starting to show little signs of play.
Barbie’s also beginning to gain confidence walking on the lead. What started as a scary experience is now slowly turning into something positive for her, and with gentle guidance she’s learning that walkies can be enjoyable and not so frightening after all.
Barbie will need an adult-only home where she can take things at her own pace. She cannot live with cats (she finds them far too fun to chase!), but she could potentially live with another calm dog who can help show her the ropes.
What Barbie needs most right now is an experienced foster home, where she can begin to settle away from the kennel environment, build her confidence, and show us more of her true personality. With time, patience, and gentle encouragement, we know Barbie will blossom into a wonderful companion who can finally leave her tough past behind.
If you can offer Barbie the safe, understanding home she’s waiting for, you’ll be giving a very special girl the chance she deserves.
