The Great Kennel Breakout

Teams will be locked in our kennels and will need to fundraise their way to freedom!

Fundraise your way to freedom on Wednesday 22nd April.

Welcome to The Great Kennel Breakout – a fast-paced and fun team fundraising challenge. Work together to fundraise your way out of the kennel!

You’ll start the day ‘locked up’ with your colleagues and the only way out is by fundraising. The more you raise, the more treats you unlock along the way.

Hopefully your team will go to their forever homes before the end of the day!

How it works

  • You’ll take part with your colleagues (kennel mates) as a team. Maximum 5 people per kennel.
  • Each kennel has a fundraising goal of £1,000 to be set free.
  • You’ll be “locked in” for the day while you fundraise using phones, social media and contacts.
  • For every £250 your kennel raises, you will get a reward for good behaviour OR one person can leave the kennel (but this must be by unanimous vote!).
  • Once you hit your £1,000 target you have all earned your freedom!

At the end of the challenge you will receive:

  • A team certificate.
  • A medal for each kennel mate.
  • A celebratory glass of fizz.

Treats include:

  • Food and drinks.
  • Games to bust the boredom.

  • Comfort upgrades to make kennel life a little easier.

The faster you fundraise, the faster your kennel becomes more comfortable!

There will be up to eight kennel teams taking part, and all kennels are competing for the same treats, so timing and strategy matter!

I’m in! What’s next?

  1. Complete the form below with a £25 deposit to reserve your kennel.
  2. Rally your colleagues to be your pack for the day (maximum 5 people per team). We ask that you have your team members confirmed within two weeks of reserving a kennel.
  3. We will ask for some further information to use on your team’s fundraising page.
  4. We will create your fundraising page and provide you with a link to share with your supporters.
  5. You will be invited to the Shelter before the event to take photos to add to your fundraising page and find out exactly what you’re in for!
  6. Arrive at 9am on Wednesday 22nd April, ready to earn your freedom!

Your questions, answered!

Are we actually locked in kennels?

You’ll be based within kennel however for safety the doors are never actually locked. You will be able to take toilet breaks.

What are the timings for the day?

Fundraising in the kennels starts at 9:30am and participants can arrive from 9am for a briefing before the event. The fundraising finishes at 4pm.

Can we use our phones?

Yes! Fundraising is done through your own networks, social media and contacts throughout the day.

What should I bring?

As there is no electric and limited artificial/natural lighting in the kennels you may wish to bring a power bank so your phone doesn’t die. If you wish to take photos, your own ring light or tripod could be useful.

What happens if someone is released early?

They can stay to support their team or leave the site.

What if we reach £1,000 early?

Amazing! If you reach £1,000 in no time at all, why not set yourself a higher target? You can continue fundraising, release more teammates and compete for treats.

Do we need fundraising experience?

Not at all – just enthusiasm, teamwork and a willingness to get involved.

Are food and drinks provided?

We recommend you have a hearty breakfast! Fresh drinking water will be available throughout the day and additional ‘treats’ can be unlocked by meeting fundraising goals.
