Bear

Shepherd cross, age 6 years 2 months

Bear came to the Shelter in April 2024 with his ‘brother’, Teddy, after they stopped getting along in the home.

He is a massive foodie, and treats are the way to his heart (and his training brain). He’s already got some impressive credentials, having taken part in an IMDT training course where he was an absolute star. Everyone there fell for him and who could blame them? He’s charming, smart and eager to learn.

Bear enjoys all sorts of activities, but scent work is by far his favourite. While he can be strong on the lead at times, he responds brilliantly to positive training, especially when snacks are part of the deal. Bear enjoys peaceful walks, preferring calm, quiet routes where he can take in his surroundings without too much hustle and bustle.

If we had to guess, we think Bear would tell us that his all-time favourite things are tennis balls, affection, filled Kongs and belly tickles!

We asked Bear’s carers…

Why would Bear make a great pet?

Bear is super loyal and has a heart full of love for his favourite people. He always says hello with a wag and a smile. He loves cuddles and belly rubs and will often roll on his back to let you know it’s time for some attention!

Tell us about Bear’s endearing qualities…

When playing with toys he likes to run proudly with them in his mouth, making sure to squeak it!

What do you like most about Bear?

He’s incredibly handsome and is a big softy. He gives the best cuddles.
